Frequently asked questions.

A practical introduction to how The Ai Guide helps small businesses explore and implement AI responsibly.

What does The Ai Guide do?

We help small businesses identify useful AI opportunities, simplify repetitive work, improve workflows, and make informed technology decisions. The focus is practical business value—not adding tools simply because they are trendy.

Who do you work with?

TAG is designed for owners and teams at small and growing businesses, including solopreneurs, family-owned companies, professional services, and trade businesses. Fit depends on your goals, current systems, and the problem you want to solve.

What is the AI Readiness Assessment?

It is a short, educational assessment that helps you think through your current operations, goals, and readiness to use AI. It is a starting point—not a certification, technical audit, or guarantee that a particular tool is right for you. Take the 90-second assessment.

What happens during a discovery call?

We discuss where time is being lost, which tasks create friction, what systems you already use, and what a sensible next step might look like. There is no obligation to move forward, and a discovery call does not create a consulting relationship.

What kinds of services may be available?

Possible engagements can include AI education, opportunity mapping, workflow and automation strategy, tool evaluation, implementation support, and team enablement. The exact scope is documented in a proposal or statement of work before paid work begins.

Do I need to be technical?

No. TAG translates technical concepts into clear business decisions. You should expect to participate in defining goals, reviewing recommendations, and testing results, but you do not need to become an AI engineer.

Will AI replace my employees?

Our approach is human-centered. We generally look first for ways to reduce repetitive work, improve consistency, and give people better information. Staffing and employment decisions remain entirely with your business and should be made carefully with appropriate professional advice.

How do you handle confidential information?

Do not send confidential, regulated, or highly sensitive information through public forms. If a project requires access to business systems or data, the parties should agree on scope, access, approved tools, and safeguards in writing before that access begins.

Will my information be placed into public AI tools?

Not by default. A project may involve third-party AI platforms, each with its own data practices. The intended tools and data-handling choices should be discussed before project information is processed, particularly when confidential or regulated data may be involved.

Can you guarantee savings or revenue?

No. Results depend on your starting point, team participation, data quality, implementation, customer behavior, and many other factors. TAG can define goals and measurements, but no ethical consultant can guarantee a particular financial or operational result.

How much does an engagement cost?

Pricing depends on scope, complexity, access requirements, timeline, and the level of implementation support. Any fees and payment terms are provided in writing before work begins. Current service starting points are listed on the Services page.

How long does a project take?

Some advisory or assessment work can be completed quickly, while implementation and team adoption may take longer. A proposed schedule, dependencies, and client responsibilities will be included in the project scope.

Do you only work with Chicagoland businesses?

TAG is rooted in Chicagoland and built around the needs of small businesses. Availability for remote work or businesses outside the area depends on the project and can be discussed during a discovery call.

What should I prepare before our first call?

Bring one or two examples of work that feels repetitive, slow, inconsistent, or difficult to scale. It also helps to know which software your team uses, who owns the process, and what a successful improvement would look like.

Will my team receive training?

Training, documentation, and handoff support can be included when appropriate. The final scope should state who is being trained, what materials are included, and what support is available after delivery.

How do I get started?

Start with the AI Readiness Assessment or book a discovery call. We will use that conversation to decide whether there is a useful, realistic next step.

Still have a question?

Let’s talk through what would actually help.

Bring the question, challenge, or uncertainty. We will help you make sense of it.
